Extraordinary Ministers of Holy
Communion:
The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
assist the priest in the distribution of
the precious Body and Blood of Christ. Volunteers
must be at least 16 years of age, be a
practicing Catholic, have received the Sacrament
of confirmation, and, if married had
their marriage blessed by the Church.
Altar Servers:
Altar Servers assist the priest during Mass.
Altar servers receive 1 ½ hours of training
held three times each year, and usually serve
at one Mass per month.
Hospitality Ministers:
Hospitality Ministers greet people entering
the church in order to provide a friendly, welcoming
environment. They assist worshipers
in locating a seatduring Mass, initiate the
collection of gifts, and direct the flow of traffic during communion. Following Mass,
they hand out the parish bulletin and tidy the
worship space as needed. Youth are invited to
participate.
Lectors/Commentators:
Lectors proclaim the word of God at Mass. A
2 hour training session is offered several times
each year. Youth who have an understanding
of the bible and who enjoy public speaking
may become lectors. Commentators welcome
the congregation, make announcements
and begin the Mass.
Ministry to the Sick and Homebound:
Volunteers provide visits to people who are in
the hospital or confined to home and offer
them the Eucharist and a friendly visit. Volunteers
must have completed training as and
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
Youth may accompany the minister and visit
with the homebound person.
Knights of Columbus:
The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization
of dedicated Catholic men whose
members uphold and support the family and
the Catholic Church. TheKnights sponsor
various family and youth activities and donate
resources to the parish and other charities.
